Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A., one of Tampa Bay’s oldest and most prestigious law firms today announced Sean K. McQuaid has been selected to the 2016 Florida Super Lawyers list. Mr. McQuaid has made this list each year since 2014. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor. Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area.
Sean McQuaid joined the firm as an associate in 2000, was made a shareholder as of Jan 1, 2006 and became a named partner in April 2013, the fastest rise in the 60-year firm history. Practicing both criminal and civil law he has a special emphasis on personal injury, auto accident and wrongful death cases.
Mr. McQuaid is a member of the Florida Bar, the Bar of the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Pinellas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and various other legal associations.
Mr. McQuaid has been a resident of the St. Petersburg area since August 1997 when he began his legal studies at Stetson University College of Law, graduating with Juris Doctor and Masters in Business Administration degrees. During law school he was a member of the Moot Court Board from 1998 through 2000, arguing in national competitions across the country. Prior to his time at Stetson, he graduated from Princeton University, where he was a 4-year varsity letterman and was the captain of the Princeton University Baseball Team his senior year.
Mr. McQuaid also has a history of service to the community. He is on the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, previously served as Chair of the City of St. Petersburg Nuisance Abatement Board, was President of the Harbor Isle Homeowner’s Association, and on the Executive Committee of the Suncoast Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He has dedicated his time to many causes over the years in an attempt to give back to the community and share his skills and talent. Mr. McQuaid was flattered to be awarded with this distinction again and vows to continue his exceptional legal work in the future.
