A 38-year-old motorcycle driver has died after a collision with an SUV in Pinellas Park Monday, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Maria Maldonado Hernandez, 44, of Pinellas Park, was driving an SUV on 49th Street North when she made a left turn onto 126th Avenue North around 7:20 a.m., the agency said in a news release Monday afternoon.
Hernandez collided with motorcyclist Maxwell Jenkins, of Clearwater, who was driving south on 49th Street, and Jenkins was thrown from the motorcycle, police said.
Jenkins died at the scene, the release said. Hernandez and her passengers, Yefrin Carias Umanzor, 42, and Jairo Villalobos, 35, both of Pinellas Park, had minor injuries.
Police are investigating the crash, and they do not believe speed or alcohol were factors, according to the release.
The southbound lanes of 49th Street were closed after the crash and reopened by 12:24 p.m.
