Crews from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue responded to a crash involving a motorcyclist on Gandy Boulevard just east of Brighton Bay Blvd. The crash occurred at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 71 year-old female from St. Petersburg was operating an SUV traveling northbound in the driveway of 10596 Gandy Boulevard (Goodwill), approaching a stop sign at Gandy Boulevard.
A 58 year-old male from Gibsonton was operating a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Gandy Boulevard when the driver of the SUV entered the path of and was struck by the motorcycle. The passenger on the motorcycle was a 51 year-old female from Phoenix, Arizona.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected onto the roadway with the driver suffering fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The passenger on the motorcycle was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The inside lane in both direction was closed for several hours while troopers from the FHP conducted their investigation. The roadway reopened at approximately 9:50 p.m.
